Ausma Malik joined Atkinson in May 2016. Ausma brings a background in policy, community organizing and communication to the team, having worked at Queen’s Park and as the Director of Campaigns and Community Outreach at the Stephen Lewis Foundation. From 2014 to 2018, she was a Toronto District School Board Trustee for Ward 10 (Trinity-Spadina). She is a lifelong human rights and social justice activist who has taken on a variety of leadership roles within the community over the years.

Ausma is on  vacation as of July 6th. She is taking an unpaid leave of absence from her position with the Foundation from July 27th to November 14th, 2022 inclusive — with the exception of supporting the Atkinson Fellow on the Future of Workers’ This Minute newsletter on release days in July and August.

During Ausma’s leave, she is focused on her campaign for a seat on Toronto City Council and on the municipal election on October 24th, 2022.
