Macaulay Langstaff made the move to Tyneside for the second time in his career in August 2020, having first signed for the club from Billingham Synthonia in February 2017.
Langstaff made five National League appearances during the 2017/18 season and was sent out on loan to Billingham Synthonia and Blyth Spartans before departing Gateshead for York at the season’s culmination.
The forward had a brief second loan spell with Blyth, and also appeared for Bradford (Park Avenue) on loan in the second half of the 2018/2019 season.
Langstaff scored four goals in 16 appearances during the 2020/21 season and signed a one-year contract extension ahead of the 2021/22 campaign.
The forward enjoyed a hugely successful season as his 32 goals and 14 assists in all competitions helped Gateshead to the Vanarama National League North title, while earning the division’s Player of the Season award and a spot in the Team of the Season after ending the campaign as league top scorer with 28 strikes.
